PIT How to

About Us

A project by hobbyists, for hobbyists — helping you navigate Polish tax obligations.

Our Story

Like many of you, we started investing in stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies without fully understanding the tax implications in Poland. When tax season came, we found ourselves overwhelmed by the complexity of PIT-38 forms, NBP exchange rate requirements, and the rules around capital gains taxation.

We spent countless hours researching — reading official tax office guidelines, studying NBP documentation, browsing forums, and piecing together information from various sources. It was a frustrating experience, and we wished there was a simple, straightforward resource that explained everything in plain language.

That's why we created PIT How to. We wanted to share the knowledge we acquired through our own research and experience, hoping it might help others who are in the same situation we were.

What We Offer

Our website provides free educational resources to help you understand PIT-38 tax filing:

  • Step-by-step guides explaining tax concepts in simple language
  • Practical examples with real calculations
  • Historical NBP exchange rates for easy reference
  • Currency converter using official NBP rates

Our Mission

We believe that understanding your tax obligations shouldn't require a law degree. Our goal is to break down complex tax topics into digestible, actionable information that anyone can understand.

We're not trying to replace professional tax advisors — quite the opposite. We want to give you enough foundational knowledge so you can make informed decisions about whether to handle your taxes yourself or seek professional help.

Important Notice

We are hobbyists, not certified tax professionals. The information on this website is based on our personal research and understanding. Tax laws are complex and subject to change.

If you have a complex tax situation or are unsure about anything, we strongly recommend consulting with a qualified accountant or tax advisor.

  • National Bank of Poland (NBP) — for exchange rates and documentation
